Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors
through Him who loved us.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,
nor angels nor principalities nor powers,
nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth,
nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:35-39
Our God is a God who loves us so dearly.
There is nothing that you could do
that would make Him love you more, and
nothing you could do would make Him love you less!
Nothing, not circumstances, or failures, or poverty,
or tough times could rob us from the
undying love of our Father!
BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAS DONE,
WE ARE PERFECTED IN CHRIST.
Ever thought of being perfect? Ever tried? I did.
And the more I tried, the more I go deeper into misery,
the more I see myself as imperfect and incomplete.
Then you think, didn’t God said in
Philippians 1:6
‘being confident of this very thing,
that He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.’?
Well, by completetion it must have meant
‘Perfect’,’ Whole’, ‘Lack of nothing’...
this is the total opposite of our state at the moment!
Just wait a sec*
He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it……WHEN?
Until the day of Christ! Until the DAY OF CHRIST!
Let’s take a look at the New Living Translation-
And I am certain that God, who began the good work
within you, will continue his work until it is
finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
In a whole, this means that the work that God has begun in us,
He shall complete and perfect it when He comes back again!
So its either we die first or He comes back first
that we will be complete!
OUR BOAT WILL NOT SINK
Sometimes we feel really tired and stressed out in our ministry,
When no one seems to support you,
no one seems to catch the same vision you have...
Those are tough times where you come to God and say
‘God where are you???’
Let’s take into account a famous passage from the Bible
and look at it with a whole new perspective.
Matthew 8:23-26
Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him.
(PAUSE)
Who got into the boat first? Jesus.
And the disciples followed Him. Sounds familiar?
Just like us, Jesus was the one that led us into our ministries,
our family life, our studies etc.
Okay, then all goes well when SUDDENLY…
a great tempest arose on the sea,
so that the boat was covered with the waves.
ooo...Tribilation’s here!
But He was asleep.
Wait. Jesus asleep?
Do you think that he doesn’t know what’s happening?
He surely is aware of the current situation,
but he rests in peace for He knows with Him on the boat,
THE BOAT WILL NOT SINK!
It is destined to reach the other side!
Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him,
saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”
But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?”
Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea,
and there was a great calm.
Many times in the things we do, we rely too much on ourselves
and depend too much on others. And when times get tough,
we had forgotten that Jesus is on the same boat with us!
He will not allow our boat to sink. Tough times have its season.
But when the King of creation is on board,
be rest assured that we WILL reach our destiny!
For once again,
Philippians 1:6-
being confident of this very thing,
that He who has begun a good work in you
will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Whatever God has begun in your life, He will complete it!
Now let’s take a look at another sailing voyage:
Mark 6:45-50
Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat
and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida,
while He sent the multitude away. And when He had sent them away,
He departed to the mountain to pray.
This time around Jesus sent them first.
Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea;
and He was alone on the land. Then He saw them straining at rowing,
for the wind was against them.
Hmm... straining…far too familiar to our lives again?
We human beings always find ourselves in situations
where we strain and try so hard to get to the other side.
Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them,
walking on the sea, and would have passed them by.
Well, most probably Jesus saw them
trying so hard by themselves the didn't need Him,
so he would just pass by them unnoticed.
And when they saw Him walking on the sea,
they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out;
for they all saw Him and were troubled.
You know many times in life, when we are trying so hard
by our own means to achieve something,
even when God comes by to help us,
we couldn’t even recognize him!
You might blame the waves, the wind, and the raging waters
(circumstances) that are against you, but the truth is
our minds and our will are the only thing keeping us from going forward,
keeping God from completing His work in us.
But even so, Our Lord Jesus is more than gracious, more than loving,
For immediately He talked with them and said to them,
“Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
Isn’t He wonderful? After being mistaken for a ghost by
His closest disciples he still says to them, don’t be afraid, it is I?
THERE IS ALWAYS ONE MORE OPPORTUNITY
What if we screwed it up? What if we already threw in the towel?
What if we think we already let God down?
Well, the good news is,
Our God is a God if second chances.
Even Paul the great Apostle says in Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected;
But I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus
has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself
to have apprehended; but one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward
to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal
for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Amen! We are all not perfect, at least NOT YET,
So when time are tough and people point fingers at you,
just smile and say
‘I am WORK IN PROGRESS!’ =)
