Big Prayers

When was the last time we prayed for a BIG, HUGE, AWESOME miracle? 

Two weeks ago? when you were searching for a car park?

Your prayers are the indicators of your faith.

Boom! Hit me!

Here I am convinced deep down within me that I have great faith in the God of the Universe, but am too afraid to make BIG PRAYERS.

Joshua 10:12-13

Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the Day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites befor the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel:

‘SUN STAND STILL over Gibeon;

And Moon in the Valley of Aijalon.’

So the Sun stood still,

And the moon stopped,

Till the people had revenge against their enemy.

Joshua was a man with GREAT FAITH. HE knew how to pray Big prayers, 

and most importantly HE knew the Heart of his God.

The more faith you have in God, the stronger your relationship with him, and the more powerful your prayers become.

3 Concepts of Good prayers.

 1. Audacity

Too often we pray prayers like this..

‘God..Dear God.. IIFFFFFFFF it is your Willlllllllllll…Puh-leasseeeeeeeeeeee…..’

We don’t realize that we actually are underestimating God’s powers 

and ability to work miracles in our lives. 

And come to think about it, God is very often insulted by our tiny, little prayers. 

Hey come on, whatever happened to ‘ and everytime I pray, 

I move the hands of god…’,’How Great thou Art’. ‘All things are possible’…!

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefire come BOLDLY to the throne of grace, that we might obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need.

Audacious prayers based on the word of God move the heart of God.

2. Accuracy

We have to be specific in our prayers.

In the morning  we use to pray,

’ O god…bless me, bless my mommy, bless my daddy, bless this bless that..’

We could only blame our laziness for such general, unspecific prayers. 

You know how babies just cry whenever they need something? 

They’ll just go ‘WWAAAHH..NGWEEEEEEH’ and their parents will

just have a hard time figuring out what is it they’re asking for..

Its same like in our prayers.. We go..'God…

bless..WWWAHHHH..WEEEH…please WWEEEHHHH…’  Get the picture? Only infants pray like that. We are told to grow in our maturity as Christians 

and this kind of prayers are a definite NO. 

Joshua prayed a very intelligent prayer. 

He specified that the Sun stand still OVER GIBEON, 

and the moon in the VALLEY OF AIJALON’. 

Be specific.

3. Action

James stated that faith without works is dead.  

God requires a corresponding action in the natural

before he does His supernatural.

Don’t just sit there, pray and wait for a miracle to happen,

you’ve got to work on it!

If you’re seeking an answer to God as to whether to join a ministry. 

Don’t just wait for an answer, get into it, 

and see if God’s anointing and providence is there for you. 

Joshua and his team went all out to fight against the Amorites first 

before God sent large hailstorms to help them.  

God is Almighty, but he sure won’t move if you don’t!

You’ll always hear this saying of you’re studying business management-

Good goals have to be specific, measurable and achievable.

But here’s it for a good prayer-

A good prayer has to be specific, measurable and 

IMPOSSIBLE to achieve humanly.

Of course, having said all these, praying according to the will of God is no less vital.

God has promised Joshua victory over the Amorites, 

hence he claimed the word of God to gain triumph in the battle. 

There would be no miracles without a promise. 

Even Peter upon seeing Jesus walking on water, called out to Him saying

‘ Lord if it is you…Call me…’ and Jesus answered,’ Come..’

When you are praying in the will of God and for HIS GLORY, 

no request is too large and nothing is too hard. 

Ask Audaciously.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
